25 years of training this exceptional Wisteria Vine

This exceptional Wisteria vine is a product of 25 years in our training. Set against a freestanding stone wall, a wonderful feature in itself, the juxtaposition of fluid flora and stone results in an impression of harmonious variety in the garden.

The stonework sets a beautiful stage for the Wisteria, and we’ve carefully cultivated the plant so the vine and stone can accentuate one another. By training distinctive horizontal layers, the stonework remains exposed, to be enjoyed from the pool area. In the spring, the pendulous purple blooms are highlighted by the dark facade they rest upon. To achieve this effect, we’ve installed a network of lead anchors between the stones. Stainless steel hardware discreetly yet durably helps to position the branches of the vines.

When we first began training this vine over two decades ago, it only covered a small portion of the stone wall. It is exceptionally gratifying to see it now span from end to end.
